The program specialties include treatment for children, ages 5-11, who are severely emotionally disturbed; adolescents, ages 11-18, who are experiencing sexually maladaptive behaviors; adolescents who have a dual-diagnosis including substance abuse; and adolescents who are MR/DD.
Desert Hills has a special all female unit that is Dialectical Behavioral therapy adherent. The program is female adolescents ages 13-18 who struggle with intense emotional dysregulation. These teens may exhibit self-injurious behaviors or have constant suicidal urges or attempts. They may also have intense acting out behaviors such as aggression towards other peers or adults
At Desert Hills, we are immensely proud of the services that we are able to offer to individuals who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The Deaf Program provides compassionate, individualized treatment to boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 18 who are in need of care for any number of behavioral, emotional, or cognitive concerns. With care that is offered in a comfortable 6 setting, The Deaf Program is integrated into many of our units, where a culturally affirming therapeutic living environment is afforded through direct care Deaf staff. 6 living is focused on providing consistent structure, support, routine, and a therapeutic culture to allow for improved daily living skills, enhanced coping skills, and the building of strong, healthy interpersonal relationships.
